New York Times photograph by Emily BerlIt is strange, ghoulish, to celebrate death.  But given the death and destruction that Osama bin Ladin has been responsible for, there is a sense of relief at the very least.I became a US citizen in May 2001, four months before the 9/11 attacks, so almost as long as I have been an American, we have all been living with the aftermath of those attacks.  It's naive to think that terrorism is over with bin Laden's death.  But even before this, there seemed to be tentative indications that Jihad may be loosening its hold.  We can only hope that will now become more and more of a reality.  And add to that the hope that we  can now begin a firm and swift withdrawal from Afghanistan.Symbolically, at least, the world is a different place today.
